Loading Bay

We think Loading Bay is hot, hot, hot and we aren’t the only ones. The New York Times recently mentioned them as one of the top twelve fashion, food and design spots to visit in Cape Town. And it isn’t difficult to understand why.

Situated on Hudson Street in De Waterkant, Loading Bay is a hub of great tasting coffee, good-looking people and super cool designer clothing. Espresso Lab Micro Roasters take care of the coffee front while imported labels Blue Blood and Scotch & Soda see to the luxury apparel. The people? Well, offer a great experience and its like a moth to a flame.

The interior is industrial with splashes of bright yellow. The glass façade draws in the view of the surrounding old buildings, further adding to the raw urban feel. The adjoining clothing section is a mere few steps from the restaurant space and offers an effortless shopping experience.

The menu is short and sweet. For breakfast you will find items like berries and yoghurt, the breakfast sandwich or toast with avo, mozzarella or banana. For lunch, try the beer battered prawns in a bucket, the feta and butternut salad or one of their sandwiches. Burger evenings are held every Thursday from 19h00 till 22h30.

Owner JP Bolus says,

We pride ourselves in products that reveal quality & style for a functional purpose that puts smiles on friends’ faces.

And judging by the smiling regulars here, that’s exactly what he’s doing.
