This Avenue is home to a place called Bean There and it is filled with a team of people who are serious about coffee. Single origin, optimally roasted, fair trade, organic, exclusive, African coffee to be specific. Brainchild of siblings Sarah and Jonathan Robinson, Bean There Coffee Company was born in July 2006 out of a desire to source and roast the best beans Africa has to offer. The team at Bean There view what they do as an adventure, discovering a bean’s little quirks and complexities and practicing how to prepare better drinks in a variety of ways.
The roastery is a space where you can enjoy a good cuppa in a comfortable and trendy setting with first row seats to team at work.
We opened the roastery for several reasons; firstly, we wanted a cool place to work. Secondly, we wanted to create a space for people to witness the art of roasting coffee first hand. And finally, we wanted to develop an inviting place where people could learn about the complexities of amazing African coffee.
The Bean There team sources all the beans themselves. They have personal relationships with the farmers who produce their coffee and are deeply committed to direct fair trade. They believe that this is the most sustainable way of doing business to ensure that everybody wins. They were also the first roaster of Certified Fairtrade coffee in South Africa.
Their delicious coffee is also available online along with every coffee related item you could possibly need. Stove top espresso makers, grinders, plungers, espresso machines – its like coffee porn! Check out the Coffee Adventure Kit. Its made up of a hand crafted wooden box, a BRS gas stove and cylinder, Bialetti 3 cup Moka Express, 250g bag of Bean There Coffee and two stainless steel cups with carabiner handles. What more do you need?

We’re also doing mini-cappuccinos from a mokapot and a milk foamer – no electricity required (our first step towards being off the grid!), just a gas stove and a little genius
