Cafe Puka

Cafe Puka is the epitome of your neighbourhood corner coffee spot. A well-kept secret with a handful of tables and chairs and a golden retriever named Wags. They have been running for eight years and it’s easy to understand why. The food is delicious, the coffee is great and the atmosphere is friendly and inviting. The full breakfast resembles an aggressive Sunday morning skottel fry-up and the large coffee (the cup is the size of a small swimming pool) will keep you buzzing for the day. The name was inspired by a small shell worn by Indonesian surfers during the early ‘70s and the radio is tuned into KFM who bust out tunes from around the same time. They are serving Buondi coffee and offer free wifi. They don’t accept Amex or Diners but welcome everything else, including hippies. Get past Wags and you’re safe.
