When you have a building filled to the brim with creatives, there is bound to be a lot of coffee going down. Add a landlord who knows how to keep his tenants happy, and you have Sixty6.
March saw the opening of this spot in the Woodstock Industrial Centre and in addition to offering some kick-ass coffee; it also has a great story behind it. Elad Kirshenbaum tells me how the 14 000m2 building, owned by his family, stood empty. With a deep-rooted interest in the development of Woodstock, his long term vision was to transform the building into a hub of creative talent and expression. Three generations of tenants later, he has a building filled with a community of creatives, all handpicked as he says, that are amongst some of the biggest names in the industry. You will find Alex Hamilton, Faith 47, Love and Hate and /A Word Of Art from the art world alongside photographers Mike Wesson, Neil Smith and Alexia Webster to name but a few. Black Stone Clothing, Darkie, Diana’s Munchies, Slice Above and many, many more. /A Word Of Art and adidas Originals have joined forces to create Three Stories – a not to be missed schedule of events over the month of the World Cup that includes match viewings, exhibitions, local music talent and an indoor skate park. The venue is the home of /A Word Of Art and stretches over, well, three stories.
You can find Sixty6 on the ground floor of the building. The coffee has got what it takes and the space also serves as an outlet for the tenants to display their art and products. Twenty bucks gets you a large cuppa and a croissant. The inspiration comes at no extra cost.
