You’ll find Cafeen tucked away on 3rd Avenue in Harfield Village. Opened in 2008, this spot oozes charm and offers a feast for not only the stomach, but also the eyes. The interior is adorned with an eclectic collection of antiques and quirky nik naks. Chandeliers hang overhead while portraits of your great-granny’s-best-friend’s-cousin peek out from behind an ornamental sailboat. You can’t help but stare.
Open daily, Cafeen offers a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. They are serving Lavazza and their barista whips up a pretty mean flat white. The seating outside looks onto a small park and the menu has just about every base covered. For breakfast try a Fruit Kebab – seasonal fruit served with Bulgarian yoghurt, nuts and honey or a Summer Stack – health toast stacked with Brie, herbed mushrooms, roasted cherry tomatoes, crispy bacon, watercress and rocket. Lunch has all the usual suspects – wraps, salads, sarmies and burgers and there are also a whole bunch of homemade cakes and goodies on the menu that are worth a try. Beware of the Apple Crumble. You’ll be hooked.
