David Lynch Does Coffee

Considering that he was drinking up to 20 cups of coffee a day it seemed only natural for famed director and coffee addict, David Lynch, to bring out his own brand of coffee.

The David Lynch Signature Cup Organic range includes a house blend, espresso roast and decaf French roast, all of which are packaged in silver bags with simple labels. It’s all quite normal, really. That’s with the exception of his coffee ads.

The first ad aimed at promoting his new venture saw the Mulholland Drive director discussing his coffee with the head of a Barbie for a full four minutes. You see nothing but Barbie’s pretty face for the entire ad. His second ad is less creepy than his stint with Barbie but still a bit bizarre. One too many cuppas perhaps? We’ll let you decide for yourself…

    This might sound a little cynical, but isn’t is funny when people advertising their coffee uses the worst clips of their coffee being made?

    The thing on the grinder is used to tamp the coffee, not a proper tamper
    The espresso’s pour is terrible with no crema at all
    He is steaming the mild in the cup

    I have seen SA roasters appear on programs like Top Billing showing off some really bad cappuccino foam and shots being pulled!

    Maybe I’m just nit-picking
